So for this gif I just drew a silly face smiling and then I added the eyebrows and eyes doing stuff because I didn’t want it to seem too lazy. For this piece I redrew every moving part. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I’ve done gifs using frames in Photoshop and I find it to be a bit clunky if you need to go back and make changes to particular frames.

The story here is that alien ships have come to Earth and this is what it would look like from my porch.
I really enjoyed doing this piece because it involved a lot of problem solving and experimentation. I actually started by utilizing an alpha channel to make the selection of the sky and it turned out pretty decent, especially for how daunting this picture seems. I used a lot of big soft brushes and blending modes. I spent a lot of time thinking about the way that light works. I kind of felt like this utilized a bit of everything we’ve learned so far. One particular problem I ran into was trying to get rid of the highlights on the posts on the bottom right of the photo which I actually solved by going back to week one and using the patch tool. I kind of just jumped into this project and probably did a bunch of redundant things and I think in the future (with more knowledge of Photoshop), I might be able to do this in a more organized and quicker way.
