Introduction – Jennifer Moss

Greetings!

My name is Jennifer Moss and I will be your instructor for this class.

I have been an Instructional Designer for UAF eCampus for the past eight years and this is where you can find me most weekdays. My technical background includes over 25 years of professional work in web design and programming, graphic design, desktop publishing, and technical illustration. I attended the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon and it was there that I first discovered digital imaging, when Adobe Photoshop 1.0 first came out back in 1990. I still use Adobe’s Creative Cloud software daily – Primarily, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, and After Effects.   I find creating with these industry standard tools both magical and immediately rewarding.

I am also a professional artist and you can view my portfolio here.

In school, in addition to fine art, I studied English Literature because 1.) I like a good story and 2.) I felt that I wasn’t a very good writer and wanted to fix that. By the time I had my degree, my writing had improved immeasurably and I got to read a lot of great stories. Win win!

Most of the work in this course will take place in Photoshop. It is not the be-all-end-all of image editors and there are many other good ones out there, however, it is a great tool for learning some intermediate level concepts that will helpful for you professionally in terms of digital imaging.

A few  years ago, I spent some time in the Thai jungle making new friends. Apart from feeling at home with elephants, my super power is more along the lines of cat whisperer. See slider image below.

I hope you enjoy this class and I look forward to working with you and seeing your creative work!

~Jennifer
